Cause and effect on teenage depression.

To write my essay on this topic, we need to be aware that teenage depression is quite common nowadays.

There is no single cause for depression. Many factors play a role including genetics, environment, life events, medical conditions, and the way people react to things that happen in their lives. Depression is one of the most common emotional problems in the people through out the world. Teenage or adolescence is a phase of life when kids needs special care and guidance. In absence of these they mainly feel left alone or gloomy.

Statistic shows that “Teen suicide” is the third leading cause of death among teens. Depression is the most common mental illness among teens. Depression is not just a bad mood or a phase; it is a serious medical condition. In most cases of depression and other mental illnesses can be treated, but the problem needs to be diagnosed by a professional. It is difficult to differentiate between depression and sadness. Anyone can be sad due to ups and down of life but depression leads to strong mood involving sadness, discouragement, despair, or hopelessness that lasts for weeks, months, or even longer. This can effect ones normal activities and living condition. Few symptoms of depression may be:

Feeling of hopelessness and helplessness.
If they pull away from those around them or from activities they once enjoyed.
If they feel lonely and alone
At its worst, depression can create such feelings of despair that a person thinks about suicide.

Depression is curable. Treatment for depression can include talk therapy, medication, or a combination of both. Talk therapy with a mental health professional is very effective in treating depression. Parents talking to their kids and appreciating them can also help a lot. Parents need to take care and precaution while bringing up a child. Every time expecting that the child will do things exactly according to the parents can be one of the cause of teen depression. Parents need to give space and have faith on their child.
