When essay writing about PE in schools, one needs to have an understanding of the importance of indulging in physical activity in the schools. With the incidence of obesity among school children in the United States becoming rampant, there is a need to instill the importance of being active physically. According to the American Cancer Society, having a regular physical activity can contribute to a healthier and longer life. It can also reduce heart disease, diabetes, and other forms of cancer.

When I write an essay about PE in schools, I will discover that the current recommendation for physical activity is at least 60 minutes daily. But sadly 3.8% of elementary, 7.9% of middle, and 2.1% of high schools offer daily physical education to its students Twenty two percent do not have any physical education programs at all.

After a systematic review of physical education programs with increased physical activity time, there was a marked improvement in the aerobic and physical fitness of the students. Aside from that, the benefits of changing the physical education program of schools were evident among different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups as well as in male and female elementary and high school students in urban and rural settings.

Results of an Early Childhood Longitudinal Study revealed that engaging in physical education does not have an effect in putting an end to childhood obesity among young overweight girls. At the same time, there is evidence that shows the potential benefits of physical education beyond fitness. It reflected marked improvements in the academic performance and cognitive ability of students who increased their time in physical education.

At the same time, physical education can produce positive effects on tobacco use, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Obese children are likely to experience high rate of absenteeism more than normal weight children. Always ensure the quality of the physical education program. It should put emphasis on quality while working on increasing the duration of physical education in schools.

These are important considerations one needs to bear in mind when writing my essay about PE in schools.
